Identified - Technical advisory
Impact Description
Starting with Horizon Cloud Release 1600.0 onwards and the “Import Image” feature on earlier releases, it was discovered that a recent Microsoft Azure agent update intermittently exhibits timeouts under certain operations (e.g. pool creation).
This unexpected behavior is sporadically observed through VMWare as Horizon Cloud leverages Azure Custom Script Extensions(CSE) which executes a background installation of the Microsoft Azure agent.
Immediate Mitigation
VMWare has increased the “clone” timeout to 30 minutes which shields the majority of customers (the value can be overridden if necessary) from the Microsoft issue.
Next Steps
Engineering is continuing efforts to identify all use case scenarios where the symptoms manifest while bound by compliance restrictions. We are also continuing to work with Microsoft to expedite a vendor resolution (they have committed to an updated agent by the first week of January).

Impact Description
Starting with Horizon Cloud Release 1600.0 onwards and the “Import Image” feature on earlier releases, it was discovered that a recent Microsoft Azure agent update intermittently exhibits timeouts under certain operations (eg. Pool creation). New Marketplace image import/copy functionality does not appear to be impacted.

This unexpected behavior is sporadically observed through VMware as Horizon Cloud leverages Azure Custom Script Extensions(CSE) which executes a background installation of the Microsoft Azure agent.
Immediate Mitigation

VMware has increased the “clone” timeout to 30minutes which shields the majority of customers (the value can be overridden if necessary) from the Microsoft issue.
